Some thoughts on Halo 3 update.
Disclaimer: this won’t be complete, and parts might be somewhat uninformed.
So, Bungie has monkeyed with nearly everything in Halo 3. Many maps and weapon spawn points have changed; although I haven’t played this specific map yet, Epitaph is very different, from what I hear “on the street.”
Snowbound’s energy walls have been removed in a variant called “Boundless.” Totally weird. You’ll behave as though the walls are still there, running for their cover like a whelping puppy.
The most notable difference is the ranking system. Everyone got rolled back to the apprentice level, with your former ranking left intact as your global ranking.
My three-man crew ranked up faster than we ever had before in team slayer. It’s really tempting to think, “Yeah, we should have been at that rank a long time ago and were getting ripped off all that time.”
It’s probably more like: “Caesar (i.e., Bungie) is appeasing the masses.” Maybe they’ve made it easier to rank up just to keep gamers in the fold.
