The BitBag is reporting the chance that Sony will be charging gamers for their
chance to wield massively multiplayer war on their upcoming title for
PS3. From Zipper interactive, the geniuses behind the Socom series, comes this new shooter which can be anything up to 256 players
fighting to glorious and urine soaked death on the battlefield.
A circular survey sent to them, pictured below, was called “Short Survey. Big New
Game”, so it’s not any large stretch of the imagination it is to do with
M.A.G (Massive Action Game). The survey lists a bunch of questions
centered around paying monthly or yearly fees as well as questions
pointing towards one time payments for downloadable content. Apparently Sony has replied with the old favourite “”We don’t
comment on rumour and speculation” about this move which is sure to
anger gamers if it turns out to be true.
However, considering
the massive size and scope of the game, it’s no surprise they may have
to charge, taking into consideration that server blocks cost a lot of
money and that Sony’s PSN currently costs PS3 owners a whole whopping
nothing to use and play over. In my humble opinion gamers should be
more accepting of paying for MMO’s especially ones this large, since otherwise they might have to change the name of the game.
