The NBA Street Fighter II Lookalike Team

We here at PWN or DIE love the mash-ups. Back before the election was over we took the Alaskan governor and Vice President hopeful, Sarah Palin, and photoshopped her into video games. We also mashed up the election with the famous “All Your Base” meme. Then after the election we had to cross Barack Obama and Gears of War 2.

Moving on from the election we took some of our favorite video game characters and cast them with actors we thought should play them if ever made into a film. Keeping with that spirit, our friends over at BleacherReport.com took Capcom’s classic fighter, Street Fighter II, and found NBA lookalikes. Professional basketball players that most resembles characters from a video game is right up our alley. Not to mention Street Fighter is making a pretty major comeback too with Street Fighter IV and Super Street Fighter II Turbo HD Remix both coming up.

We decided to take a crack at one of these mashups from their article. We picked the Cleveland Cavaliers’ Anderson Varejao and Blanka. They describe the pairing as:

Yes, both Blanka and Anderson Varejao are from Brazil, both have wild red-tinted hair, both are balls of energy/hustle waiting to explode, and both are one-dimensional characters who don’t have much diversity to their game.

Blanka had the electricity and spinning balls moves; Varejao can rebound and make awkward falling jumpers in the paint. Neither character has the capability to lead you to a world title (sorry, Cavs fans).

Honorable Mention: Robin Lopez, Scott Pollard

Aside from the obvious similarities of the hair and the Brazilian heritage, we feel that they definitely hit the nail on the head when the essentially called both of them role players.

You can check out the rest of their NBA Street Fighter II lookalikes and let us know if you agree with their picks and which is your favorite. We look forward to seeing what else the Bleacher Report throws our way and what we can throw theirs.

Here’s our photoshop mash-up.
