Padres Pitcher Uses Wii Fit to Lose Weight
It is hard to get excited about Wii Fit unless of course Playboy Cyber Girl Jo Garcia is playing in her underwear or Jillian Michaels training us. In fact, the hard to get in stores item is hardly used by the average user that was lucky enough to shell out $90 and take it home.
This is not the case for San Diego Padres reliever Heath Bell who gives props to the Wii Fit as being a major factor in him losing 25 pounds. Bell is looking to take the spot of closer left open by future Hall of Fame pitcher Trevor Hoffman, the all-time leader in saves. Hoffman bolted San Diego in favor of joining the Milwaukee Brewers up in Miller Park, leaving the Padres’ closing role ripe for the taking.
Bell was smart enough to realize that this was an amazing opportunity for him and getting his weight under control became a bigger priority. Playing video games with his kids was also part of his life and thus the Wii Fit tie in.
“It said I was obese,” Bell said. “If you’re obese, it makes (your
character on screen) obese. I was disappointed that I was that big. I
literally took the game to heart. I did the work but I kind of credit
the Wii Fit.”
There have been studies about how people have freaked out after seeing their overweight Mii depicted in the game. This however is the exact opposite and proof of success. A professional baseball player using the product in the way it was intended and achieving desired results. It is better than steroids I would think.
