Three heavyweight titles on Xbox Live have new updates coming!
Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack
The top dog on Xbox Live, with over one billion served, is Halo 3. Over a year and a half after launch, Halo 3 sits at the top of the list of most played games on Xbox Live. On April 9th Bungie and Microsoft will release the Mythic Map Pack DLC to XBL. This map pack has only been available to those that purchased the limited edition of the best selling RTS this generation, Halo Wars, and people that Bungie deeemed worthy.
“New spaces, new skulls, and new achievements for Halo 3’s Multiplayer experience. Get tactical in Orbital, compete on the symmetrical Assembly, and construct your own creation with the Forger’s paradise, Sandbox, a blank slate offering players unprecedented levels of customization.”
The Halo 3 Mythic Map Pack will be available April 9, 2009 for 800 Microsoft Points, or $10. It will include three new maps Assembly, Orbital, and Sandbox.
Gears of War 2 Snowblind Map Pack
If wielding lancer guns with mounted chainsaws rather than plasma grenades is more your style, then you are probably more excited about the Gears of War 2 updates coming today and next week. When users boot up the game today they will be prompted to download the Gears of War 2 Title Update 3. “Title Update 3 contains a bounty of additions ranging from new features and achievements to exploit fixes and matchmaking tweaks”.
GOW 2 will also be getting new multiplayer maps next week. On March 31st the Snowblind Map Pack will be available on Xbox Live for download. 800 Microsoft Points ($10) will net you four new winter-themed maps including Grindyard, Under Hill, Courtyard, and Fuel Depot. The first three are new maps and Fuel Depot is another remade map from the original Gears of War game, much like the Flashback Map Pack we broke down many months ago. These are the first maps made available since the Combustible Map Pack that was announced at the Spike TV Video Games Awards last year.
Left 4 Dead Survival Pack
Now that you have set aside your brand new $20 card full of 1600 Microsoft Points for the above two DLC map packs, how about some free stuff? You should already know that
Left 4 Dead is offering up their Survival Map Pack for free. What you might not have known is when it was going to be available. April 21st is the day fans will get “survival mode” and new campaigns.
Fallout 3 The Pitt
Also a reminder that the second Fallout 3 DLC called “The Pitt” is available today for 800 Microsoft Points ($10). The first DLC was “Operation Anchorage” and there will be a third called “Broken Steel”. In “The Pitt” the wasteland expands to the destroyed city of Pittsburgh that full of sick survivors taken as slaves.
