There are a ton of people playing Call of Duty: World at War literally as I am writing this. There is also a large group of people playing COD:WaW’s predecessor, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, a game that came out almost a year and a half ago. This is a testament to how great COD4 is. Fans had been obsessively waiting for Infinity Ward to confirm that they would be making a sequel. Once Infinity Ward did finally publicly acknowledge that they would be making COD:MW2, fans began to spread rumors of details that were shot down as ‘bad intel‘ by the developers.

Tonight at the GDC 09, Robert Bowling posted on Twitter that Infinity Ward had finally secured www.modernwarfare2.com and then later acknowledged that they would be showing ’something’ at the conclusion of the Developer Choice Awards.

What they showed was a trailer that seemed very cryptic at first glance but was actually full if quick images that detail different environments like what appears to be an oil rig on water and a hillside full of small homes. There were also helicopters, warships, and plenty of explosions. We picked a couple of the frames from the video that show clear shots of this. Also at the end it clearly displays the date of 11.10.09, just in time for the holiday season.
