Aisha Tyler – Gaming Goddess and Comedian

Recently PWN or DIE joined the ranks of websites that have compiled a list of hot gaming women, compiling every famous pretty face we could find that has at least held a video game controller one time in their life. Our search yielded a wide range of celebrity gamers that ranged from the casual gamers like Megan Fox and Kim Kardashian, to the dedicated World of Warcraft fanatics like Mila Kunis and Kate Ground (Kate’s Playground).
After a few hours of circulating around the internet, our list was debated heavily and suggestions started flowing in. Many people wanted some names taken off while others challenged us to find more hardcore gamers like Playboy Cyber Girl of the Year Jo Garcia and adult film star Asia Carrera. One user on Twitter even called us out for leaving one woman off our list in specific. Comedian Aisha Tyler was that lovely lady we neglected to include. She has been in movies including Balls of Fury and Bedtime Stories, tv shows including Friends, CSI, 24, and even hosted Talk Soup. The list is called “22 of the hottest celebrity women that play video games”, and so far she is two for three in her qualifications. We needed to dig deeper to see if she had the gaming credentials too.
Right around the time we created the list, Comedy Central was running television commercials for “Aisha Tyler is Lit: Live at the Fillmore”, her first stand-up comedy special. In this special we get a glimpse at Aisha the gamer as she talks about pregnancy cutting into her Xbox time.
That is where it started for us. After seeing that clip, we wrote to Aisha on Twitter to apologize for leaving her off of our list and we have been keeping an eye on her ever since, just to be sure. As it turns out Aisha is very friendly and more than willing to talk about video games.
In her MySpace blog Aisha describes her new found love of Fallout 3 on her PlayStation 3 in great detail. She also relates her Xbox 360 to an “8th grade boyfriend” complete with Halo and Gears of War references. Then we were surprised (EXCITED) to see that she mentioned PWN or DIE in her Huffington Post article called “And the Geeks Shall Pwn the Earth“. In this piece she talks the rise of the “geek” and video games.
If reading those two pieces is not enough to get her included in all future lists of beautiful female gamers, then there is obviously foul play involved. We are officially fans of hers now and will continue to keep in touch with her to talk video games.
Be sure to check out Aisha Tyler on Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, and on tour. Don’t be afraid to drop her a line, that is what we did. See if you can stump her with some video game trivia. Also be sure to follow us on Twitter @pwn_or_die.
