Today Activision confirmed 24 songs to included on Guitar Hero 5’s already large 85-song setlist. The announced tracks range from the rap-rock of the Beastie Boys’ “Gratitude” to the guitar wizardry of Jeff Beck’s “Scatterbrain (Live).” Here is the track list announced today:

• Beastie Boys – “Gratitude”
• Beck – “Gamma Ray”
• Billy Squier – “Lonely Is The Night”
• Blur – “Song 2”

This announcement ironically lands on the same day of EA releasing DLC news for Rock Band Unplugged and does nothing to extinguish the fires of competion between the two. Activision must be feeling very ambitious as they are also set to release the turntablist game DJ Hero for multiple platforms later this year. Guitar Hero 5 is pressed for release in September on Xbox 360, PS3, PS2, and Wii.
