Today marks the release of G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra video game for all major video game platforms as well as mobile devices. The video game focuses on an all-new storyline that weaves in key elements from the film and, for the old school G.I. Joe fans out there, adds a bit of nostalgia inspired by the animated cartoon series, comic books and action figure toy line. The easily accessible third person action-arcade shooter allows G.I. JOE fans to step into the boots of 16 playable characters as they battle through 20 levels armed with high-tech gadgetry, weapons and vehicles.

G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra picks up where the movie leaves off as the COBRA organization begins to unleash its deadliest plan to date. Players must battle and follow the COBRA team’s every move over the course of 20 levels spanning four different environments including the arctic tundra and sweaty jungles. As the high stakes battle begins to let loose, the player will have to select the best-suited G.I. JOE character along with gear and skill set to make a successful strategic decision when facing the dark forces of COBRA. When selecting characters the player can hand pick members from three different units: Heavies, Commandos, or Combat Soldiers.

To add to the action, gamers will also be challenged to find 75 file cards and various intelligence items that are buried deep within the game in order to unlock new characters, special missions, achievements and trophies.

The best part, by defeating each COBRA boss players can unlock four of the classic G.I. JOE PSAs.

G.I. JOE The Rise of Cobra is now available of the Xbox 360, PLAYSTATION 3, and Wii systems for $49.99 and on the PSP for $39.99. The game is also on the Playstation 2 and DS for $29.99 and will also be released on several mobile devises.
