PS3 Gets Discount in UK

We told you last week about the rumored PS3 price drops as well as the possibility of a PS3 Slim to be unveiled at GamesCom. It looks like these rumors aren’t completely off base with the price drops already starting in the UK.
Early today the retail store Asda, a national supermarket in the UK, started offering what they call a “limited promotion” on the 80GB systems. The offer includes the system plus two games for £250, which is £50 less than the current UK RRP. Asda includes the games Terminator: Salvation and inFamous in their bundle, but there is also talk of a number of mix-and-match titles such as Ghostbusters, LittleBigPlanet, Killzone 2, and Resistance 2.
So what does this mean? Maybe this is a discount going along with Sony’s announcement at GamesCom tomorrow. Also floating around is the idea that it could be an effort to clear stock ahead of the possible PS3 Slim.
Between this and the Meijer advertisement offering the Xbox 360 Elite for $299.99 (US) slated for August 30, gamers wanting to get their hands on a next-gen console have some nice choices to look forward to.
