The original Dead Rising was known for its lengthy and challenging single player mode. Devoid from the original though was a multiplayer mode. For the sequel, appropriately named Dead Rising 2, Capcom is adding a multiplayer mode. Instead of just putting players in a mall or social area to fight with random weapons, the developer felt like taking a creative approach to the mode. Multiplayer gamers will be part of the fictional reality TV show “Terror is Reality” where the members of the show compete in a series of zombie killing challenges.

This is an awesome way to incorporate a multiplayer mode. Not only that, it fits the game’s clever sense of humor and commentary on American life. I do not know if I will be able to pick this game up when it comes out next year (I should be hemorrhaging money during the two-week period where Borderlands, Forza 3, and GTA4: The Ballad of Gay Tony come out. This does not include the full-on bombardment my bank account will receive from Mass Effect 2, SP: Conviction, Red Dead Revolver, etc. after Christmas), but I hope that I have a spot for it.
