After seeing the incredible amount of games get pushed back from Fall/Winter 2009 to Spring 2010 or worse, it is kind of easy to forget that there are still many worthwhile games coming out without the words “Modern Warfare” in it (nothing against Infinity Ward but it is possible to enjoy more than one game).
Today is a good day for gamers with Brutal Legend and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves now available at North American retail outlets. Both have had heaps of attention poured on them, between Brutal Legend’s starring of Jack Black and Uncharted 2 receiving plenty of E3 accolades and excellent reviews.
Many in the gaming industry also view Brutal Legend as Tim Schafer’s ticket to “acceptance by the public.” His previous games like Grim Fandango and Psychonauts received widespread excellent reviews but failed to get sales that reflected critics’ opinions. Psychonauts famously won many “Best Game that Nobody Played” awards from reviewers. With the gaming giant EA backing him and Jack Black center stage, it looks as though Schafer has found the spotlight.
Other games also available today are Fallout 3: GOTY Edition (PC, Xbox 360, PS3), Magna Carta 2 for Xbox 360, Singstar Motown for Playstation 3, Where the Wild Things Are (Xbox 360, PS3, Wii, DS), Way of the Samurai 3 (Xbox 360, PS3), and Cabela’s Outdoor Adventures for PC.
