Obama Artist Commissioned for DJ Hero Renegade Edition CD

Throughout the years, one aspect of society that has remained separate from the games industry is politics. Maybe games have not matured enough to touch on political topics or maybe nobody is really interested anyways. Whatever the case, politics and gaming have been like oil and water.

However, the two worlds of gaming and politics are briefly aligning this Fall in the form of DJ Hero’s Renegade Edition 2-CD Pack with Eminem and Jay-Z. The cover of this pack was designed by the “HOPE” Barack Obama campaign image artist Shepard Fairey. Many attribute the some of the power of Obama’s campaign to the images created by Fairey. This is either a sign of politics entering gaming (probably not) or a sign of Activision’s vast and extensive power and clout (probably not again, but it sounds more interesting). Although we think Fairey’s work is classic and of course naturally powerful, if Obama had used this image that we made, we are sure he could now be ruler of the universe or something equally epic. Below in the full image you can see the similarity found in it and the Obama HOPE image.

On top of this new info, Eminem will be playing the unreleased track “Taking My Ball” on his Sirius XM Radio Channel SHADE45 this Friday at 6 pm.

“The tracks we put on this disc are mostly overlooked or rarer favorites of mine from all different parts of my career,” said EMINEM. “I also put a brand new, unheard song on there so even the biggest fan has something new.”

“JAY-Z and EMINEM are two of the biggest selling artists of the last decade and have influenced music, arts, entertainment, fashion and technology around the world,” said Dan Rosensweig, president and CEO of Guitar Hero. “Their involvement with the game, especially the Renegade Edition and DJ Hero Renegade album, shows their commitment to being on the bleeding edge of entertainment.”

DJ Hero is being developed by FreeStyleGames for the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, the Playstation 3 and PlayStation 2 computer entertainment systems and the Wii system from Nintendo. The game is rated “T” (Teen – Mild Suggestive Themes, Lyrics) by the ESRB. For more information about DJ Hero, please visit djhero.com, facebook.com/djhero and twitter.com/djhero.
