Visceral Games Delivering ‘Divine’ Dante’s Inferno to PS3
First things first- the demo for Dante’s Inferno is now available on Playstation Network and Xbox Live users can expect one in a couple weeks on Christmas Eve.
Next, Playstation 3 users are now not only getting a demo of the game first, but also an edition exclusive to the system. The Dante’s Inferno ‘Divine’ Edition will include developer commentaries, a Wayne Barlowe digital art book, the soundtrack to the game and a digital version of the complete Longfellow translation of Dante Alighieri’s Inferno. I guess I do not know my literature well enough to understand what a complete Longfellow translation is, but I am assuming it is more than adequate. It sounds cool to me and better than no Longfellow translation.
EA’s Dante’s Inferno is an epic descent through Dante Alighieri’s nine circles of hell – limbo, lust, gluttony, greed, anger, heresy, violence, fraud and treachery. At a blazing-fast 60 frames per second, each circle features unique environments, all new creatures, terrifying demons, story elements and are scored distinctly to set a tone that fits each circle of sinners.
I guess this is another sign that the PS3 still has life and is pretty far from death. While Dante’s Inferno does not have the weight of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, it is certainly a game that will have as high a production value and possibly knock God of War from its 5-year perch.
