MLG Raises Entrance Standards
Major League Gaming announced today that they will be raising the standards for entrance into the league.
According to the league’s previous by-laws, a player could be said to “be in” MLG if she/she/it if satisfied any one of the following conditions:
- played in one match at a local or regional MLG event
- knew someone already in MLG
- said “Hi” to someone in MLG
- played at least one Halo 3 match against someone in MLG
- bought an MLG sweatshirt
- lived within 25,000 miles of an MLG player
- uttered a complete sentence with all of the letters “m”, “l”, and “g” in it
- heard of MLG at all
- is a merely possible human that could be born at any point in the future (he/she doesn’t actually have to be born)
- is named “Jet Li,” “Jean Claude Van Damme” or “Steven Seagal”
According to MLG’s Membership Director, Ken Massey, MLG’s ranks have swelled to 12,931,586,834,345 (to the 3rd power) members under the old by-laws.
The MLG Membership Committee has voted to amend the standards. According to the new By-Law #325a:
MLG members must include “MLG” in their gamertag or clantag in order to remain in good standing, unless you are named “Jet Li,” “Jean Claude Van Damme” or “Steven Seagal”.
Massey estimated that this will “downsize” MLG’s net membership by about 50%.
