Splinter Cell Conviction Delayed…Again

Splinter Cell Conviction has been in development for about 4 years now, but has already acquired a bitter reputation for being delayed often, almost to the point of excess. The most recent release date for Conviction had been February 23rd, but Ubisoft’s third quarter performance reports reveal that the next Splinter Cell outing will be in April 2010, the next financial year.

Ubisoft’s strategy game R.U.S.E. has also slipped to after April. Ubisoft claims that ‘challenging market factors’ have affected both games’ release dates.

Late Night Punch-Out

If you have been watching headlines recently, you have probably caught the current Jay Leno-Conan O’Brien-NBC feud over The Tonight Show. I do not want to get caught in a shouting match over who’s wrong and who deserves the spot, I just want to pass along something we found on the internet from Maxim, joking about the current late night situation.

Jay Leno's Punch-Out

Aisha Tyler – Comedian and Spy?

Our favorite gaming goddess, the talented and beautiful Aisha Tyler, can also be called ambitious- she’s been pretty busy recently. In between her games of Halo: ODST (we assume PWNing noobs is her normal schedule), she’s managed to make a hilarious video at Funny or Die spoofing 70′s blaxploitation films while injecting sarcastic Aisha Tyler humor.

In addition to this she’s signed on FX’s newest show, Archer, an animated spy comedy satirizing the supposed thrilling world of espionage. Chances are you have caught a commercial or two of the show, in which Aisha plays Lana Kane. Archer airs for the first time tomorrow night at 10 PM on FX. Also, Archer is rated TV-MA and is not for kids.

Modern Warfare 2 Sales Exceed $1 Billion

Not much to say here, except that Modern Warfare 2 worldwide sales has exceeded the $1 billion mark, according to Activision’s internal estimates.

Activision chief Robert Kotick says “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded our expectations and shattered theatrical box office and video game records. There are only a handful of entertainment properties that have ever reached the $1bn mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of this game.” The most recent addition to the $1 billion club is James Cameron’s recent film Avatar.

This milestone comes nearly two months to the day after the game’s release.

EA is Bringing Back NBA Jam!

EA Sports has their first announcement of the year, and it’s a doozy. The classic arcade basketball game NBA Jam is getting a second life from the video games sports juggernaut as ‘EA Sports NBA Jam‘. This new NBA Jam will be released only on the Wii.

Featuring gameplay that is true to the original, NBA JAM will have players spinning with ankle breaking moves to the basket and on the way to high-flying, backboard-smashing dunks. In addition to the classic experience, EA SPORTS NBA JAM will also introduce new game modes, characters and gameplay depth.

Peter Moore, the President of EA Sports, says “NBA JAM is one of the most recognizable franchises in videogame history. Diehard fans of the original game have been asking for a remake for more than a decade. We’re very excited to give them their wish this year with the return of this iconic franchise.”

EA Sports NBA Jam is being developed at the EA Canada studios in Vancouver, British Columbia and will be available only for the Wii later this year.
