Call of Duty: Black Ops Coming in November

Every year brings another Call of Duty video game from Activision and their developing studios.  For the last few years Treyarch has been taking turns with Infinity Ward on the yearly cycle where they would deliver games from the World War II era like Call of Duty: World at War and Infinity Ward would deliver present day shooters like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.  All of that appears to be changing.

During a time when the future of the “Modern Warfare” franchise seems up in the air with the mass exodus of Infinity Ward employees and lawsuits between Activision and the studio, Treyarch still has a game to deliver.  We now have a few details on this game being called Call of Duty: Black Ops that is due to be released on November 9, 2010.

“We can’t wait for our community to experience Call of Duty: Black Ops,” said Mark Lamia, Studio Head for Treyarch. “We have focused our entire studio on this game, with dedicated multiplayer, single-player and co-op teams creating the most intense, gripping and riveting experience possible for our fans on all fronts.”  Follow @JD_2020 and @Treyarch on Twitter (and @PWN_or_DIE) and visit CallOfDuty.com/blackops for more details as they emerge

Halo: Reach Beta is Live

Today is the day for all of you that purchased Halo 3: ODST just for the Halo: Reach beta invitation to finally get your money’s worth.  Bungie’s multiplayer beta has been live for a few days for those with special invitation codes and has unlocked for everyone else that bought ODST (new).

I have not had the chance to play any matchmaking of my own yet.  There are several new game modes, multiple maps, armor abilities, and Call of Duty like weapon loadouts that can be changed between respawns.  I will come back with impressions from the beta and would like to hear some of yours as well.

If you are sitting at work (away from your Xbox 360) or just want to load up on pre-beta knowledge, you may want to consider reading Kotaku’s guide to the beta or the Halo: Reach beta FAQ section compiled by Bungie.  I for one am really looking forward to getting some doubles going once again.
