COD: Black Ops Ups the Special Edition Ante

Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition

Call of Duty: Black Ops is coming in November, everyone knows that by now.  People will be in line at midnight on November 9th to get their latest COD fix from Treyarch.  Today we found out the details of the two premium versions of the game and much like the night vision goggles of Modern Warfare 2, the bar has been raised.

Call of Duty: Black Ops – Prestige Edition Video

Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition and the Call of Duty: Black Ops Hardened Editions, are expected to be this year’s hottest collector’s item and are now available in limited supplies for pre-order in the U.S. at major retail outlets nationwide. Call of Duty: Black Ops launches on November 9th, giving gamers the latest classified surveillance technology — the RC-XD — as part of the Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Edition.

For the Prestige Edition, Treyarch and Activision created an entirely original remote controlled surveillance vehicle inspired by the RC-XD from Black Ops Multiplayer. With a range of up to 200 feet, the RC-XD Surveillance Vehicle has a fully-functioning remote camera that transmits both TFT color video and audio to its operator.

The Prestige Edition is inclusive of the Hardened Edition, which includes a custom Black Ops limited edition medal, exclusive Black Ops Avatar outfit, as well as four playable cooperative maps.

The Call of Duty: Black Ops Prestige Editions and Hardened Editions will be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft and PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system when Call of Duty: Black Ops opens worldwide on November 9th, 2010. Black Ops drops gamers deep behind enemy lines into the world of deniable operations as a member of elite Black Ops units. Standard editions of Call of Duty: Black Ops will also be available for the Xbox 360® video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation®3 computer entertainment system, Nintendo Wii and Windows® PC. The title is not yet rated by the ESRB. Also in development, Call of Duty: Black Ops for Nintendo DS is rated “T for Teen” by the ESRB.

Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring Cover Athlete Unmasked

Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring Box Art

The title is a little misleading, because it is a pretty big deal when a luchador is unmasked, and that is not what happened here.  Instead it was the proverbial mask covering the box art of the upcoming game, Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring, that was removed.  The infamous Dr. Wagner Jr. won the first-ever live heavyweight Lucha Libre AAA wrestling match on the show floor at E3 and earned the honor of being the first cover athlete for the game.  Hopefully Dr. Wagner will not experience the same luck as the college athletes and Madden Curse victims that have had their fortunes reversed after getting the cover of a videogame.

I also have to point out that I spent time playing this game and watching the live matches at E3 and this is a game I am anxious to spend more time with.  I really only knew of a handful of the wrestlers but that didn’t bother me as I played the game.  I met Conan at the nearby Method Man and Redman performance and scored a La Parka mask at the booth.  The masks are pretty high quality and make my Nacho Libre freebie look homemade.

La Parka Mask

Fans who pre-order Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring will receive one of four authentic masks: Dr. Wagner Jr., La Parka, Octagon or Abismo Negro. Upon picking up a pre-ordered copy of Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring at participating retailers, fans will receive a redeemable voucher they can use to obtain their authentic Lucha Libre mask. What better way to immerse yourself in the spirit and culture of the Lucha Libre than by donning an authentic mask while playing Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring at home, or even while eating at your favorite Mexican restaurant.

Lucha Libre AAA: Heroes del Ring, available on October 12, 2010 via PS3, Xbox 360, Wii and DSiWare.
