We told you last week about the rumored PS3 price drops as well as the possibility of a PS3 Slim to be unveiled at GamesCom. It looks like these rumors aren’t completely off base with the price drops already starting in the UK.

Rumor has it that the PS3 is expecting a price drop at GamesCom next week along with their brand new PS3 Slim. According to Chris Lewis, an Xbox exec, this will not affect any plans for the Xbox 360 (now expected to include a price drop of its own).

While GamesCom is starting August 19 in Germany, Xbox Live users in the US will still have something new to look forward to with the demo for Lost Planet 2. This is the same demo that Capcom has been showing at events like E3 and Comic-Con and that people have been waiting to try out for themselves.

Continuing their relentless assault on prospective The Beatles: Rock Band purchasers, Activision today announced that consumers buying specially marked copies of Guitar Hero 5 during the month of September will receive an advance copy of Guitar Hero: Van Halen (which is currently due in December). This deal also applies to reserve customers. Considering the two games’ setlists, the total amount of songs amount to over 130.

After releasing the box art for the UK iteration of FIFA 10, EA has unveiled the US’ FIFA Soccer 10 cover. Featured on the cover will be Major League Soccer
stars Cuauhtémoc Blanco of Chicago Fire and Sacha Kljestan of Chivas USA. They will join Frank Lampard, the Chelsea athlete found on all regional covers of FIFA 10. To accompany this announcement EA has released the box art and a video with Blanco’s signature ‘Blanco Bounce’ move, which will also be in the game.

Guess what? You will not be playing StarCraft II this winter as Blizzard has pushed the game back to 2010. What is the reason you ask? Blizzard entertainment has moved the release date of StarCraft II to “coincide with the relaunch of its upgraded Battle.net online-gaming service”.
