We found even more unbelievable Modern Warfare 2 knife throws for your viewing pleasure.

When we posted the Ninja Knife Throw video back in November, we thought we had stumbled upon something really special. Well, we did, but we also found out that many other people have had some ridiculous luck in the skill of knife throwing in Modern Warfare 2. This first is cool, but possibly not unlike many knife throws you have seen already. The coolness factor is increased because the player missed with his throw but the knife still managed to find its target:

This next guy may or may not have planned for this throw to happen the way it does, but I cannot tell. The knife seemed to land in the right place, with him standing in the right place. Regardless, it’s cool to see.

This next one is a good example of an educated guess. This player knew where everybody would be sitting and sniping and decided to take a chance, and he lucked out.

This situation is nearly the same, but the thrower hit the victim at the beginning of the match from the opposite end of the map. Ouch.

Although our first post and the videos above clearly have very spectacular throws, this next one is supernatural. It lumps the most amazing facets of the above knife throws like distance, ricochet, and landing spot into one.

The tactical nuke experience in Modern Warfare 2 is often very different than all others online. It's not easy to get and those that do know it. Warning: a fair amount of NSFW language.

One of the additions to Call of Duty that Infinity Ward made to multiplayer was the tactical nuke. If you have played Modern Warfare 2 online, you have probably seen how it affects the outcome of games. If not, just imagine being able to end a match at any time. Oh yeah, you also have to get 21 kills in a row without dying though. With all of this being said, the environment of a game can be pretty interesting when someone gets and uses a nuke. Reactions range from normal and human to unchecked psychopathy. Here, take a look:

That’s pretty rare though, and hopefully for YouTube’s sake you have a camera rolling if you find yourself in one of these games. The next one is more typical of Modern Warfare 2 in general, and our own Pete LeGrant probably has an article in stow about it. The situation has one guy with his microphone turned up excessively loud so it re-transmits everything anyone else says. This creates a strange echo effect and ends up sounding like some kind of weird Gregorian chant that you would only hear online, especially when this dude and his buddies all “holla” after winning a match.

What could be considered worse, though, are guys like those below that are so good at the game that they are bored by getting 21 straight kills normally. Naturally, this kind of guy makes an internet video describing how easy it is to get 21 knife kills in a row, followed by a nuke. Personally, I’m happy with getting anything higher than a 5-kill streak. But if you can pull off what this guy does, more power to you.

And you’ve also got guys like this next one that can not only get the requisite kills for a nuke, but can also snowball all of his killstreaks leading up to it. And by doing this, he was able to get 56 kills before dying. His only death was from his own nuke.

I’m not a pro at Modern Warfare 2 (but I don’t totally suck. My KDR is around 1.5 and has been rising), but that doesn’t mean that I can’t pass along little tips that can help you survive a bit longer. These tips will work, not only for Modern Warfare 2, but for COD4, and Call of Duty: World at War, and any other FPS, game.
You will find that certain spots on maps are very popular sniping spots. The hill on “Afghan” is a great example. Windows and doorways in elevated positions, for example, are usually sniper nests. If you’re sniping, one thing you can do to help your team or clan is to find very unpopular spots and countersnipe.
Snipers will usually focus on popular corners and hallways–places where enemies will “bottleneck.”

If you’re countersniping, you want to win the battles around these bottlenecks. You might find that the opponent’s sniping spot is so good, however, that you have a great deal of difficulty finding out where it is. One thing you should not do is “feed the loop” by repeatedly approaching the spot again and again in the game. This will only make you frustrated.

Move on to something else in the particular game and then fire up a custom match and run around a map by yourself.

First, I’d recommend using different scopes as you scan areas, because surroundings can look radically different when you’re using a thermal scope, for example.

Second, ask yourself what you can see from that popular sniping spot.

Then, while you are on a custom match, put out a claymore in the popular sniping spot if you have one, and then check out the different angles from which you can see it. See whether you can blow up the claymore.

Or recruit a buddy to be a dummy target. (You could do this on your own with split-screen, but your view on your TV screen is going to be very different.)

I’m guessing that on each map, you’ll find about 5 to 10 really popular spots. You can usually research these spots on one map in about 20 minutes. Doing this research will help you not to be frustrated later on as you play games online. You will know better the ins and outs of these spots.

Now, if you’re already doing this–great. If you find that this article doesn’t bring you any new good information–great. Pat yourself on the back and check out our other stuff.

But not everybody might have thought about my suggestions, and it’s written for them.

The record setting first week of Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is almost complete. Players are starting to climb the ranks and are racking up the high kill/death ratios which leaves some players at a severe disadvantage. One of those players is victimized at the end of a match by a knife thrown with ninja-like precision across the map.

Actually that is not entirely true. The guy throwing the knife pulled a Brett Favre “chuck and pray” maneuver that is no different than the random grenade chucking at the beginning of any match. This knife toss was extremely impressive in how everything worked out but did nothing to make me fear this ninja and his pedestrian 6 kills 4 deaths (pre knife throw).

Either way the video is pretty cool and makes me want to try out the knives and hop in on the sticky grenade battle too.

To give you a break from the plethora of gaming news announcements, we are giving you a video montage of classic NES deaths set to “Skulls” by The Misfits.

We are pretty impressed with the guy that made this, as he dug up some REAL classics like Kung Fu and Kid Icarus on top of token classics Mario and Zelda.

This new video comes to us recreating one of television’s best mini-series to date, Band of Brothers. The video featuring Team Fortress 2 characters was constructed with gaming mods, which according to Gabe Newell is ok. We feel that it does an excellent job of conveying the emotion of the intro of the show.

In this series, I take a look at websites that show pictures of abandoned buildings that seem eerily close to Fallout 3’s depiction of a post-apocalyptic future. I’ve really liked how the Fallout creators have managed to make its vision of the future seem like a live possibility–one that we humans should avoid.

Here are parts 1 and 2:

Real life meets Fallout 3: part I: abandoned missile silo

Real life meets Fallout 3: part 2: more decay

In part 3, let’s look at the mind-boggling power of nuclear weapons. As you know, in Fallout 3, the land have been ravaged by nuclear war, but there are still mini-nukes around the Capital Wasteland, and even the cars produce mushrooms clouds when they explode (which is useful for dealing with Super Mutants in the game). Let’s take a peek at the real things:

The images below come from http://www.zvis.com/nuclear/nukimgs.shtml

The site has various stats about the tests of nuclear weapons. Check out this table:

http://www.zvis.com/nuclear/ndb/usnuks.shtml

Let’s turn to some images:

This first one, to me, looks just like the landscape of Fallout 3.

While it’s fun to play Fallout 3, it would not be fun to have the world of Fallout 3 become real (and that’s quite an understatement).

Next week, our series of the connections between real life and Fallout 3 will continue.
