In this post, I pick up where my last post on this topic, Top Ten Kinds of Gamertags, with Commentary, left off. Just in case you don’t know, a gamertag is the nickname or “handle” that a gamer uses to identify himself/herself online.
Practically every time I log on to XBOX Live, I end up chuckling or shaking my head at the gamertags I see. I think gamertags in general can be broken down into several kinds, but these kinds aren’t necessarily mutually exclusive. One and the same gamertag can be of multiple kinds.

Looks like some people have had problems with their XBL gamertags. Major Nelson set the record straight today, writing:

As I was playing Call of Duty:World at War last night, I ran into some charismatic players with vibrant gamertags. One of them was named Brutal_Overlord or something like that.
