Activision today released the launch trailer for id and Raven Software’s Wolfenstein, which will be available Tuesday, August 18th. The cinematic trailer features series protagonist BJ Blazkowicz battling Nazis.

Ironically, today is the release day for Madden NFL 2010, with Activision and Raven Software following up on their plea to ‘beat’ EA’s venerable football series.

Wolfenstein will be available retail outlets for PC, Xbox 360 and PS3.

EA has traditionally used a visual approach in Madden for the Wii that does not attempt to simulate and model athletes realistically. Given that the Sony’s PS3 and Microsoft’s Xbox 360 sport more technically-advanced hardware, this is a clever way to provide eye-catching visuals.

Last year when Madden NFL 09 came out, you may remember a Wal-Mart “Turf Talk” commercial featuring comedian Chris Marrs trash-talking over the phone with a buddy about an imminent online Madden beatdown.

Well Chris is back this year interviewing numerous famous athletes and actors about their “Turf Talk” abilities at EA Sports’ and Wal-Mart’s Madden NFL 10 Pro-Am football game.

Madden NFL 10 is around the corner going gold and gearing up by revealing the ratings for each division.

Every year, EA Sports releases their take on popular sports in the form of Madden NFL, FIFA, NBA Live and NHL Hockey. While sports fans’ opinions on the quality of these games often vary wildly, hardly anyone can say EA Sports drops the ball when it comes to soundtracks.

Wide receivers in the National Football League have gotten a reputation of late for their antics on and off the field. Terrell Owens and Chad Ocho-Cinco have been in the news over and over again for their endzone celebrations, Twittering habits, and even now a reality show for T.O.

A judge in San Francisco recently forwarded a case involving two plaintiffs who sued EA for having a monopoly over the NFL license that includes current players’ and teams’ likenesses. The Judge, in turning down EA’s request to dismiss, wrote that “interactive video football software’ is a recognizable product market for anti-trust purposes”.

The NFL draft may be this month, but the season is not until a few months later. The first preseason action kicks off on August 9 with the Hall of Fame Game between the Buffalo Bills and Tennessee Titans.
