What’s the best way to know if a game is worth buying? Easy, have a friend play it for 28 hours straight and then tell you what he thinks. Since you don’t have any friends, I decided to take on this monumental task for you. You’re welcome.That’s right, I played Grand Theft Auto IV for 28 consecutive hours. 36 sleepless hours, very few breaks, a lot of button mashing, and a Guinness World Record later, I was an expert(in my own mind) on all things GTA IV.Check out the world record coverage from NPR(click “listen now”), BoingBoing, BoingBoing again, and G4.After the jump, check out my full review of Grand Theft Auto IV.5 days before the release of GTA IV, IGN.com was already touting the game as the best game of the past decade, and they even went far enough to give it straight 10’s across the board. The Kool-Aid looked refreshing, it smelled delicious, but I wasn’t ready to drink it.It’s not that I thought the game was going to be a bust, I simply have a hard time believing that a site that has been blowing it’s collective load all over GTA IV for 6 months is going to say anything less than, “Yep! We were 100% correct! It WAS awesome, just like we’ve been telling you it was going to be for the last 6 months…maybe better! Yay us!”Determined to make an unbiased review, I fired up my Playstation at 4:57pm on April 29th, 2008, and I started down the path to complete submersion.
